JOBS PEOPLE DO

In late September, the pre-primary class explored different jobs. The highlight was a dress-up day where learners came dressed as their future professions. To conclude the theme, they enjoyed an outing to the CoffeeShoppe, toured the shop, and had a tasty breaktime treat.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

The Grade 9 outing on 22 September offered learners an enriching experience beyond the classroom. The U13 hockey girls played in the 8-a-side hockey festival on astro turf at Curro on 6 September. ARBOR WEEK

The first week of September marks South Africa’s Arbor Week. The assembly on 4 September, highlighted God’s incredible design of plants and their amazing life-sustaining process of photosynthesis. A snapshot of the history behind the 2025 Trees of the Year was shared, along with some fascinating stories that brought their significance to life.

No first day of any season is celebrated at DSS, except the first day of spring. We always celebrate in style with hats in full bloom and put a spring in our step with tasty treats.

BAKING SKILLS

A Sebenzela Umdali course on baking skills was presented 23 August by Lisa Engelbrecht. The baking ingredients came together in a lovely dough which was baked into a crispy, farm bread loaf. NATIONAL BRIDGE BUILDING

The SAICE International Bridge Building competition took place at Midrand Conference Centre on 22 August. Liam Joubert, Tom Joubert and Noah Vogel represented Domino Servite. They did the school proud and won first place with their bridge carrying a mass of 181 kg.

PENTANGULAR ATHLETICS

DSS athletes competed in the pentangular athletics competition held at Greytown High on 19 August. 5 local schools compete in this competition i.e. Domino Servite, Greytown, Hermannsburg, Wartburg and Wembley.
