KZNCSSA netball and soccer teams participated in the SACSSA Netball and Soccer Regional tournament in Brits on 26 July. 6 of the Domino Servite U19 soccer players and 5 of the U19 netball players went along on the short tour. Simiso Ngubane was selected as captain. We boarded the luxury tour bus in Stanger and travelled to Phelindaba Mission where the KZN team was accommodated.
Early the next morning we were up to tackle the day’s challenges. Both the teams played very well. Siyethemba Zuma made a match winning save during the one match when the goal keeper was out of position. The ball would have landed in our net if it wasn’t for a flying Siyethemba, playing in a defensive position, who somehow managed to keep the ball out.
Unfortunately we didn’t use all our chances in the soccer final and it ended on a penalty shootout. We missed some crucial penalty kicks and lost the game. KZN came second out of six teams in both the netball and the soccer.
