DSS Expo for Young Scientists

The DSS Expo for Young Scientists is a compulsory event for Grade 9 learners as well as Grade 10 & 11 learners taking Life Sciences.

It is a curriculum enriching event which is of immense benefit to the learners in terms of research skills. This year’s expo took place on 25 May in the school hall. Learners’ projects and displays are innovative, creative and at times, quite astounding.

Qiniso Gingqi & Musawenkosi Phungula were the overall Grade 9 winners with their project, BEAT THE HEAT. The focus was using solar energy to make hot water.
Sabina Allen & Jasmin Husslig were the Grade 10 winners with their project, Lettus Gro – growing lettuce hydroponically.
Sara Knieper won the Grade 11 category with her project, Wetland Wonder. Her focus was using wetlands to purify water.

The Best Display as well as Best Project Overall were awarded to Sabina Allen & Jasmin Husslig for their project, Lettus Gro. Congratulations.
