The new school year began, like all other inland schools this year, on 15 January. There was something different about DSS this year – a new uniform which many learners wore for the first time on the first day.
Of course, there are always the new faces – exactly 5 new faces in the Grade R class and many new faces in Grade 7, with a few others here and there. There is always something exciting about starting another school year, even though you have been at school for many years already. It’s the feeling of expectation, the excitement of the unknown – the unknown teachers, the unknown subjects, the unknown challenges.
Our theme for 2014 at DSS is Love your Neighbour. It was on this starting block that the 2014 school year race took off. School life offers many opportunities to put this love into action.
