On 3 June the Grade 6 learners took a trip to the KwaZulu-Natal Museum, a place filled with fascinating cultural and scientific exhibits. Their history lessons came to life as they viewed a bust of Vasco da Gama, stepped onto a replica ship’s deck, and explored a dramatic shipwreck display. They also learned about Mapungubwe, a powerful and wealthy African kingdom that thrived in southern Africa between 900 and 1300 AD. Inside walk-through caves, they admired Khoi-San rock paintings and life-sized dinosaurs in realistic environments left them amazed.
The tour guide was well-informed and answered all their questions. The 90-minute tour was rich in information and kept the learners thoroughly engaged.
The day ended at the big M with a delicious lunch and sweet ice-cream.
