There is always a first time for everything and this was a wonderful first for the junior learners on 16 June.
It was the first time the learners planned an event, created the décor, invited the guests, laid the tables, baked the sweets, served the tea, presented the program and handed out gifts, making our grandparents feel super special.
Our guests savored delicious eats and drinks while watching the items that the children had been rehearsing for weeks. The broccoli song by the Pre-primary learners was delightfully entertaining… Oh I love broccoli, it’s such a tasty sight and liver makes me quiver with sheer delight…
The Grade 6 boys ushered the guests to their seats and managed the program albeit a little shaky with the Grade 5 and 6 girls serving at the tables.
True service comes from the heart and one important lesson the children learned is that meaningful service often requires sacrifice—but it always yields positive rewards.
