Mr van Straten and his technology learners made inroads into the National Technology Olympiad. 4 Teams qualified to attend the finals, and they included a team of girls. One team managed to achieve second place with numerous rewards.
Out of 18 teams 4 teams from DSS were selected to participate at nationals.
John Hlongwane, Simiso Ngubane and Senzelumusa Khuzwayo (picture on right) achieved 2nd place in this competition.
Nydia Stegen, Thato Mosebi and Engela Basson achieved 14th position.
Gabriel Khwela, Stephan Botes and Bonumusa Nkala achieved 4th position.
Eric Hailstones, Benjamin Schneider and Nkosikhona Khuzwayo achieved 6th position.
