The First Day of 2010

A new school year always begins with the first day. The first day of the year is new for the new learners and it is a new start for the old learners. It presents another opportunity to learn new things and to be renewed in one’s faith. 2010 saw the introduction of the first Korean learners at the school. DSS is now home to Zulu, English, Afrikaans, Korean, Swiss, Australian, Romanian, Russian, German, Dutch and Sotho speaking learners.

Rev E Stegen, Director of KwaSizabantu Mission, addressed the learners reminding them of God’s eternal law of sowing and reaping when consequences will always follow actions.
Miriam Pretorius presented a gift to the school on behalf of the 2009 Matric Class. The 5 Grade R learners as well as all the new learners were introduced. The prefect body of 11 learners was presented to the school. The Head Prefects for 2010 are Louis Geldenhuys and Yvonne Joosten. Deputy Head Prefects are Mthetho Ngubane and Lydia Phungula.
