IP Outing

The IP learners visited a number of Durban venues on 23 February on the Phase Outing. The Moses Mabhida Stadium was the first stop. It was a real treat to see the magnificent building first hand. The learners first saw a visual show on the stadium construction and they were given a vast number of interesting facts about it. Four of the learners who could remember some of these facts when quizzed were each given a complimentary ticket for the sky car which takes you to the top of the stadium and gives you 360-degree-view of Durban. The learners were then taken into the stadium where they saw the awesome arch and the colourful seating.
The next stop was the King Shaka International Airport. They were taken on a guided tour of the airport and were able to ask any questions.
The last stop was the Sharks Board in Umhlanga. They were treated to a magnificent visual show of the predators and then a shark dissection. This presentation was very interesting because they could touch the dead fish, feel the rough skin and see the literal size of the teeth. If they bought anything at the curio shop before they left they were given a little packet of complimentary shark teeth!
It was a most unusual and enriching day.
