PREPARATION & PLANTING

In mid-May, the gardeners continued with soil preparation and garden layout, adding compost and making walkable pathways. Once this step was done, the small seedlings were planted. Each patch followed a garden plan which indicated where the vegetables should be planted and how far apart they should be. Most gardens were planted with a selection of winter vegetables such as beetroot, spinach, cabbage, lettuce, onions, tomatoes. A well-planned garden grows well and looks good.
