DSS participated in the SACCSA netball tournament in Randburg on 17 May.
Our opening match was a thrilling encounter against the host school, The King’s School, Robin Hill, where we narrowly lost 7–8. The team bounced back in the next match, correcting earlier mistakes to secure a 15–8 win over Eagles. In our third group game, we faced a strong King School, Westrand team and suffered a 15–8 defeat. However, we closed off the group stage on a high note with a dominant 21–1 victory over Neos.
At the end of the group phase, DSS, King Robin Hill and Eagles tied on points. Due to a better goal difference, DSS claimed second place in the group and advanced to the semi-finals.
In the semi-final we faced Alma Mater and experienced a tough 17–5 defeat. Hoping to clinch third place, we met a determined Academy side in the playoffs, but despite our efforts, we lost 15–7.
Participating at national level was a first for both coach and players. DSS took 4th position out of 10 participating teams.
The tournament was executed with exceptional professionalism, marked by outstanding discipline from the organisers, umpires, spectators, and players alike. We applaud SACCSA for producing a tournament of such quality.
