Can things be done better? Yes, they can. The staff signed up for the Cellphone Photography Masterclass with Sebenzela Umdali on 27 January.
Martin Jaeger took the group through basic, practical ways to improve cellphone photographs. He introduced composition rules such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, framing and the use of negative space. Lighting basics were also unravelled – the golden hour vs the blue hour, how to use back light and window light effectively, the direction and quality of light and natural vs artificial light.
It is often the camera in the pocket that is on hand to capture the moment, and basic good skills improve the final product tremendously.
