THEMBOKUHLE ECD

On 6 May the Grade 10 class visited Thembokuhle ECD together with Miss Waega, Miss Bax, Mr du Toit and Mrs du Preez. There were 12 toddlers at school that day.

Our girls soon realised that many of the prepared activities were too advanced for the toddlers and adapted accordingly – each “adopting” a little one. The girls kept them busy on the jungle gym, with musical chairs, running egg and spoon races, throwing beanbags, balloons, treasure hunt, eating etc. …the children warmed up to us as the day progressed – there was no language barrier! Anathi Blose

The boys cleaned the outside walls, cleared the yard and prepared a patch for gardening.

The visit ended with a lunch prepared by Thembokuhle staff – something they insisted on. When the little ones realised we were leaving, several of them cried. When it was time to go, we were very reluctant to leave “our children” and we cannot wait to see them again. Christie van Straten

They thoroughly enjoyed the time – and so did we! Emma Schobben

It was a good experience and we all learnt a lot. We are look forward to our next visit.
