We had a cold but cosy Grade R Induction Evening on 7 November where we welcomed four little children who will join the 2014 Grade R class.
All four children have brothers or sisters in our school, so DSS is not an unfamiliar place to them. We were delighted to welcome the Mchunu twins and they will bring our total twin count at DSS to five!
We started off the evening with a ‘sneezy’ puppet show presented by the CCE students. Thereafter, the Grade 3 learners, with their teacher Miss Nel, presented a slideshow and short video clip on the theme ‘The Lord is my Shepherd’. They recited Psalm 23 in an impressive five different languages! They concluded their presentation with a delightful song called ‘Spring Chicken’. The little chicks they displayed while singing, as well as the hats they wore, were made by the learners. Mrs Marloth ended the evening with a slideshow where the new Grade R learners were shown pictures of the different activities that take place in the Foundation Phase.
Finally adults and children enjoyed refreshments and a chat with our new parents who are already part of our DSS family.
