Yes, there is still one place where the least you will pay is R1 and the most expensive thing will cost you R5. That place is the Foundation Phase R1, R2, R5 sale. There was a delightful array of goodies that kids love to eat such as marshmallow sosaties, toffee apples, fudge, cup cakes, caramel popcorn, marie biscuit faces and many other delicious things. The little people who were selling their wares were the best advertisements for their goods and eagerly sold their wares to those who wanted to buy AND those who had not planned on buying! The profits made will go towards a phase outing.

The Apple and the Worm
I bit an apple
That had a worm
I swallowed the apple
I swallowed the worm
I felt it squiggle
I felt it squirm
I felt it wriggle
I felt it turn
It felt all slippery, slimy, scummy
I felt it land PLOP
In my tummy
I guess that worm is there to stay
Unless I swallow a bird someday!
It was all worthwhile when each child received beautiful Certificate of Participation, a delicious cup cake and a bottle of cold juice to round off the evening.

On 25 June 2008 the Foundation Phase attended a First Aid course which was presented by Miss Fleischman and Miss Theron. First Aid can help people when they get hurt. Often when someone gets hurt it is a small thing, like a scratched leg or a bleeding nose. But sometimes is it a big thing like a broken bone or a snake bite. At the course we learnt how to take care of burns, cuts and bleeding noses. Miss Theron taught us how to check the pulse and to hold up the body part which has a bleeding wound so that the blood can flow back into the body. Then she showed us how to put someone's arm into a sling. We each had a turn to put a friend's arm into a sling. It was lots of fun. Miss Fleischmann even showed us a short DVD about First Aid. Now if I have to care for someone's wound, I think I will have a better idea of what to do.
