National Creative Youth Arts Festival Speech & Drama Print E-mail

Speech & Drama enthusiasts took part in the National Creative Youth Arts Festival competition on 20 May. Learners entered for one or more of the following categories: Poetry Recitation, Prepared Speech, Story Telling. It was pleasing to see a large number of senior learners enter for the prepared speech category. The largest group entered the Poetry Recitation category.

They performed in front of a small audience and an adjudicator from NCYAF. The overall DSS results were very pleasing, however, because it is a national competition the final results will be forthcoming.

Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve Geography Project Print E-mail

Umgeni2008.JPG

Grade 12 Geography learners spent two days at the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve at the end of Term 2. The trip was planned to enable the learners to complete a research project on Settlement.

The first (very cold) day was spent at a number of settlements in and around the country town of Howick collecting the necessary data. The second day was spent processing and analysing the information.

It proved to be a very fruitful trip, complemented by the comfortable lodgings and rustic scenery of the Umgeni Valley Nature Reserve.
